5 WWE Superstars who could shockingly sign with AEW

Ever since the new promotion was confirmed, everyone has been talking about All Elite Wrestling.

Following on from last year's independent supershow ALL IN, AEW is the brainchild of Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, and will be financed by Tony Khan.

Holding a press conference in the same town as this week's SmackDown, some huge names have already been signed for the promotion, including Britt Baker, PAC, and former WWE World Champion, Chris Jericho.

Whilst so much has been going well for the new promotion, the company cannot run on three wrestlers alone, and obviously will be needing to sign more talent soon.

Rhodes himself has said that the new promotion aims to be a mix of new talent as well as established stars, presumably ones who have made their names in the WWE.

Here are five WWE Superstars who could shockingly sign with AEW.

#5 Zack Ryder

Ryder could be a much bigger deal outside of WWE.
Ryder could be a much bigger deal outside of WWE.

An odd choice at first glance, Zack Ryder has been a staple of WWE television for over a decade.

In that time Ryder has had some success, winning the Tag Team, United States and Intercontinental Championships, though these reigns have not lasted long.

Still popular with the fans who fondly remember his push in 2011, the Long Island Iced Z struggles for TV time, even pointing out on Twitter that he had no televised matches on RAW in 2018.

Moving to AEW could, therefore, be perfect for Ryder, who at the very least would be allowed to wrestle, and heaven forbid, win matches!

Ryder and Rhodes are good friends, with Cody stating he wanted Ryder for ALL IN, and whilst he couldn't join the former NWA Champion then, he could side with him in 2019.

#4 Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler has teased leaving the WWE multiple times in the past.

A staple of WWE since his main roster debut in 2008 (or 2005, if you include the Spirit Squad), Dolph Ziggler has done plenty in his career.

A two-time World Champion, Ziggler is also a former US and Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion, and was the 2012 SmackDown Money in the Bank winner.

It's hard to imagine Ziggler anywhere but WWE, though All Elite Wrestling could be an excellent alternative for the Show-Off.

Now at 38-years-old, it's blatant that the company do not see Ziggler as the next top guy, though he could be given his time to shine in AEW.

Perhaps AEW could give Ziggler the chance to be a World Champion again, and (unless he is struck down with another injury like the one during his 2013 reign), could finally be given a proper reign.

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura is a former US Champion.

A former two-time NXT Champion, Shinsuke Nakamura has had a funny time since joining the main roster.

Joining SmackDown Live in 2017, Nakamura received a slow-push, before winning the 2018 Men's Royal Rumble match.

Failing to dethrone AJ Styles at WrestleMania was just the start of a rough year for the King of Strong Style, who would lose in subsequent rematches, and despite winning the United States Championship, his reign was often overlooked.

Perhaps Nakamura would be better treated outside of the WWE, as the 38-year-old is potentially looking at winding up his career, and would be a huge drawing asset in AEW.

The new promotion will certainly need all the huge stars it can muster, and having Nakamura on the card for their very first show would certainly draw in a crowd of loyal fans of the WWE's resident rockstar.

#2 The Revival

If they don't win the RAW Tag Titles, the Revival should go.
If they don't win the RAW Tag Titles, the Revival should go.

Another group of Superstars who had had an awkward time on the main roster, the pair of Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder may not be long for WWE.

As former NXT Tag Team Champions, the pair drew a huge buzz when debuting on RAW, but have fallen down the totem pole quickly.

Feuding (and losing in some ridiculous matches) with the Lucha House Party, the team was overlooked greatly in 2018 for the B-Team, the Deleters of Wolds and others.

Whilst they are now feuding with the current RAW Tag Champions of Bobby Roode and Chad Gable, the Revival have lost multiple title matches against the pair, admittedly in controversial circumstances.

If this story does not end with the Revival holding championship gold in 2019, expect Dash and Dawson to bring 'no flips, just fists' to AEW.

#1 AJ Styles

Styles has held the WWE Championship on two occasions.

AJ Styles' contract with WWE is coming to an end this April, and the company are hoping to re-sign him, and with good reason.

Debuting at the 2016 Royal Rumble, Styles has had a phenomenal time in WWE (pun intended!), including holding the United States Championship once, and the WWE Championship twice, one of these reigns lasting over a year.

Although rumors suggest the former TNA star is likely going to re-sign, stealing Styles from the WWE could be a huge win for AEW.

Styles would naturally bring in a ton of fans to the new promotion, and AEW would definitely need something huge from the start to get fans talking.

That could be Styles is a deal were to be made, as Styles could work wonders with anyone on this list as a part of All Elite Wrestling.
