It was quite ironic how Styles won and lost his WWE championship. Last year he defeated Jinder Mahal to win the WWE title just before Survivor Series and faced Brock Lesnar in a champion vs champion match which was the highlight of the pay per view.

This year, Styles lost his WWE championship just days before Survivor Series against Daniel Bryan and therefore could not make it to Survivor Series 2nd year in a row as the WWE Champion.
However, Styles still had a fantastic 2018 as he faced many superstars from SD Live and managed to defeat all of them.
He started the year with his title defense against KO and Sami and then went on to have a dream feud with both Nakamura and Samoa Joe and came out victorious in both of his rivalries.
Styles currently is scheduled to face Daniel Bryan as he is looking to win back his prestigious title. Even if he loses at TLC, Styles still will have a phenomenal 2018 in which he remained at the top of the ladder in SD Live.
