#1 Finn Balor

Finn Balor is, without a doubt, the greatest NXT championship in history. After winning the championship in July 2015, Balor carried the brand on his shoulders for the better part of 2005 and became one of the most popular Superstars in the yellow brand's history. His historic NXT Championship ended at the hands of Samoa Joe at an NXT Live Event in April 2016.
Balor was the first NXT Superstar and the fifth overall pick in the 2016 Brand Extension Draft. He was drafted to RAW and had one of the best debuts in RAW history defeating the company's Golden boy, Roman Reigns in only his second match on the main roster. He would then go on to face and defeat Seth Rollins and become the inaugural Universal Champion at Summerslam. But during the match, Balor suffered a shoulder injury which forced him to relinquish the title the very next night on RAW.
Balor was sidelined for eight months due to the said injury and made his return at the RAW after WrestleMania 33 in April last year. Since then, Balor has been part of the worst feud of the year against Bray Wyatt. He came inches close to winning the IC titles on multiple occasion, got squashed by Kane in seconds and has been a victim of some really bad booking. Balor has lost a lot of his old charm due to this and the future doesn't look bright for the Irishman.
