#3 Kofi Kingston - 73 matches
When the year 2019 started, nobody expected New Day member Kofi Kingston to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35; not even Vince McMahon would have planned this when the year kicked off but an untimely injury to Ali opened the door for Kofi Kingston.
The former tag team champion gave a performance of a lifetime in a gauntlet match on SmackDown Live. He even put up a stellar show at WWE Elimination Chamber, which was enough for both the WWE Universe and Vince McMahon to start believing in 'Kofi-Mania'.
Kingston captured the WWE Championship from the new Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35. The Dreadlocked Dynamo has then defended his title on both RAW and SmackDown Live against anyone who has stepped up. His next title defense will take place inside a steel cage, where Kofi will be locked with Dolph Ziggler.
