AJ Styles has one of the best finishers in WWE at present, but the Styles Clash has caused an injury in the past, which is why Styles' reaction times when delivering the move have definitely gotten better.

The former WWE Champion was forced to spring into action back in 2016 when the took on James Ellsworth on SmackDown Live with Dean Ambrose as the special guest referee since Styles and Ambrose were feuding at the time. Styles looked to deliver his finisher but just as he was about to jump and flatten out the move, he noticed that Ellsworth had tucked his neck forward instead of backward and if he hit the move then it would break his neck.

Styles decided to deliver the move differently and ended up landing on his hands and his knees rather than flat which ensured that Ellsworth didn't break his neck and was able to finish the match. If Styles hadn't noticed that Ellsworth's neck was tucked before the move then he could have broken his neck.
