But when he was starting off, things weren't good for the future champion.
Following on from a career in bodybuilding, Cena joined the WWF in the early 2000s, in the same class as Batista, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton.
As Orton had his family's lineage, and Lesnar and Batista were both goliaths, many saw Cena as the weak link of the group. At a point, Cena even doubted himself, though persevered.
Debuting on SmackDown in 2002, Big Match John was nearly let go, until Stephanie McMahon saw his freestyle skills.
By 2003, Cena was a popular heel, and won his first WWE Title two years later.
