The A-Lister defeated John Cena in the main

event,

but was an afterthought.

After the events of last night's WWE Fastlane event, it looks like The Miz will be locking up with Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 35.

But eight years ago, The Miz was able to close out the show, when he defended his WWE Championship against John Cena.

Cena had survived an Elimination Chamber match to get to the A-Lister, making many believe that Big Match John would add another title to his trophy case.

Instead, The Miz retained the title, though not by himself, as The Rock, who had traded verbal barbs with Cena, made his presence known, costing the Chaingang leader the match.

A set-up to next year's Rock-Cena bout, The Miz may have retained the title, though very few people remember his match, and he would lose the gold a month later.
