Dawn Marie was one of the females in WWE at a time when the women's division was seen as a sideshow. Marie was put into some of the strangest and most controversial storylines including one where she married Torrie Wilson's father and he then died whilst consummating their marriage.
Marie was an integral part of the SmackDown roster from 2002 until her release in 2005. Her release was a memorable one since Marie later claimed that she was released from the company whilst on maternity leave.
Marie was released from WWE in July 2005 and later went on to give birth to her son, called Matthew in December. In January 2006, Marie filed a lawsuit against WWE with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and claimed that her contract with the company had been wrongfully terminated because of her pregnancy and that she suffered mental distress because of this, the lawsuit was later settled in 2007.
Marie went on to give birth to her second child, a daughter called Katelyn Marie in May 2009.
