Kane is one of the longest-serving Superstars currently signed with WWE, despite being the mayor of Knox County, which he secured in 2018. The Kane character debuted in 1997 as The Undertaker's half-brother, introduced by Paul Bearer.

Kane went on to win the WWF Championship, and had several iconic feuds during the Attitude Era.

During the Attitude Era, The Undertaker and Kane, dubbed as The Brothers of Destruction, won the tag team titles before feuding against each other at the end of the Attitude Era. He then went on to win multiple titles in the WWE.

Kane then switched to politics and became the mayor of Knox County in 2018. Kane wrestled a few times in 2018, with his last appearance coming at Crown Jewel, where he teamed with The Undertaker to face off against Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

Stillrealtous.com later reported that WWE had agreed to donate a fee of $100,000 to a first responders NGO on Mayor Glenn Jacobs' behalf for his appearance at the show.
