A little over a month away from WrestleMania VI, then WWF President Jack Tunney made it official. The Ultimate Challenge was going to happen and for the first time, the WWF Champion and WWF Intercontinental Champion would go face-to-face, title-for-title.
At the end of this match, something unfathomable happened, Hogan missed the leg drop. This led to Warrior hitting the big splash for the victory. The final moment of WrestleMania VI showed Hogan embracing Warrior and handing him the WWE Championship, followed by the iconic pose of the Warrior holding up both titles.
To this day, no one has held both the WWE Championship and WWE Intercontinental Championship at the same time since.
