2024 is just about over and WWE had quite the year. Business was booming from start to finish. Huge stadium shows, international events, new television deals, and more helped make it one of the best years in company history.
Many new stars debuted and big names returned throughout 2024 too. The likes of Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Jordynne Grace, Giulia, Stephanie Vaquer, Alex Shelley, and Chris Sabin are just some of the big names to join or return to the Sports Entertainment juggernaut throughout the last year.
With that being said, there were various exits from the Sports Entertainment juggernaut throughout the 12-month period too. Some stars had their contracts expire, some were in a position where they were forced to resign, and others were released.
This article will take a look at six of the biggest names who were let go in 2024. This includes the man who helped build the company into what it is today who has been taken down by a plethora of allegations, a former world champion, and more.

Below are six of the biggest WWE stars who were released in 2024.
#6. Vince McMahon is no longer tied to WWE
Vince McMahon was once the most powerful man in pro wrestling. He was the owner and later the Chairman of WWE. With his ruthless business practices, McMahon took over the industry, but decades of alleged abuse and various other allegations ultimately led to him leaving the business.
The former WWE Champion first "retired" in 2022, but forced his way back into the company in 2023. While he stopped going to shows, he continued working behind the scenes until January when even more allegations and lawsuits came his way.
This led to Vince officially leaving World Wrestling Entertainment on January 26. As bizarre as it may seem, the man who helped build the biggest wrestling company in the world was forced to leave before his past actions could kill the very thing he helped to create.
#5. Jinder Mahal & #4. Sanga & #3. Veer Mahaan; Indus Sher were let go
Indus Sher was a WWE faction that initially formed on NXT. It was made up of Jinder Mahal, Veer Mahaan, and Sanga, three powerful Indian superstars who seemingly had a bright future in World Wrestling Entertainment.
Unfortunately, the stable ultimately failed to find much success, as all three men were released by WWE on April 20, 2024. Veer had numerous stop-and-start pushes on the main roster and Sanga never seemed to properly get one to begin with.
The biggest surprise, of course, was the release of Mahal. He was a former world champion who rose to the top of the company in his second run. Jinder Mahal even had a memorable segment with The Rock earlier in the year. Despite that, he was let go with the rest of the stable.
#2. Gable Stevenson was released despite initial high hopes
Gable Steveson was someone WWE clearly had high hopes for. It is easy to see why, as on paper, he had a lot of what it takes to achieve massive success. Gable is an Olympic Gold Medalist, similar to Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.
As such, WWE was quick to push Gable Steveson from the jump. He was drafted to RAW before ever having a match and had a few major segments, both on-air and off, where he beat up wrestlers such as Chad Gable.
Unfortunately, nothing truly clicked for Gable. He had a brief run on NXT but primarily trained behind the scenes before being released on May 3, alongside other NXT stars. Perhaps due to not grasping the industry or baggage related to incidents involving Gable from outside the ring, Steveson's role in the company never truly materialized as planned.
#1. Odyssey Jones was released after a short push on RAW
The final entry on this list is one of the more bizarre cases in recent memory. Odyssey Jones had a bright future on WWE NXT, but he then suffered an injury. He returned briefly but was then called up to the main roster and then simply never debuted.
After what felt like years of waiting for Jones to debut, he finally showed up on WWE RAW several months ago where he started a storyline with The New Day. He was seemingly joining the group, perhaps at the injured Big E's expense.
Then Odyssey simply disappeared from television. Allegations came out regarding actions of his away from the ring and Jones was quickly fired from the pro wrestling promotion. He may be remembered as a classic 'what if?' scenario, as Jones was seemingly primed for a big push before his outside-of-the-ring antics got in the way.
