After more than a year of absence from WWE, Brock Lesnar returned last August at SummerSlam to confront Universal Champion Roman Reigns after his successful title defense against John Cena.
Last October, Lesnar announced that he would be a free agent. Later that month, he and Reigns squared off at Crown Jewel 2021. Reigns won the match with the help of his cousins The Usos. The Beast Incarnate has since been feuding with The Tribal Chief and has appeared several times on SmackDown.

Lesnar has also been appearing regularly on RAW lately. After winning the WWE Championship at Day 1, he began a rivalry with Bobby Lashley. At the Royal Rumble, The Beast Incarnate lost the title to The Almighty. However, Lesnar won the Men's Rumble match later that night to reserve his place in the main event of WrestleMania 38.
After winning the Rumble, the 44-year-old announced that he would face Reigns at WrestleMania 38. He would go on to recapture the WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber. The Beast Incarnate will now go head-to-head with The Head of the Table at WrestleMania in a Winner Takes All Unification match.
