What helped Barret increase his mic skills exponentially was the introduction of the Bad News Barrett gimmick. Barrett was excellent at delivering disheartening news to the masses of WWE fans.
He may not have the deep store of charisma that some of the top talkers in the business have, but he was regularly entertaining.
His delivery was strong. His lines were crisp, and his inflections were ideal. Because he was doing this gimmick in America, his gravelly voice and English accent only aided his negative rants.
