After his introduction to the NXT Universe, Johnny Gargano aka Johnny Wrestling has quickly become the epitome of what a pure babyface is meant to be. In just 3 short years, he has evolved his character to become one of the most lovable superstars in the whole of WWE at the moment.
But it seems that the time is here for Gargano to gear up to the next level. In the February 7th edition of WWE NXT, a short altercation with the current NXT champion Andrade Almas has resulted in Gargano putting his NXT career on the line for one last shot at the Championship. In an ideal world, his character is such that you would want him to get everything that he deserves. But, this is not the story of an ideal world, is it? So, could it be the time for the NXT Universe to bid him goodbye for him to move on to better things in WWE itself?
While most of the WWE Universe might be thinking that he should go on to become a main-event player at either WWE Raw or SmackDown Live, here are 6 reasons why we think a move to 205 Live will make more sense (for now).
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#1 Stepping stone
A move to 205 Live doesn’t mean Johnny Gargano will become a permanent resident over there. It is merely a chance for him to get a taste of being at the top of a mountain before he is pushed into the main roster.
The 205 Live roster itself is brimming with untapped talent & Johnny can very well shine amongst them, while perhaps capturing the Cruiserweight title. This will also give WWE a chance to gauge his impact & the WWE Universe’s reception to him being at the top of a mid-card level.
#2 Revamped 205 Live
As much as we think Gargano will do well at 205 Live, it also stands true that 205 Live needs him! With the new direction that the show is bound to take under the guidance of Triple H (as rumored) & under the leadership of the already impressive Drake Maverick, the Cruiserweight division will need more star power in order to bring some of its potentially seen Sheen back. Enter, Johnny Gargano!
#3 Getting the Spotlight
Talking about the spotlight, Gargano will also be one of the top talents in the division automatically, right from the start. There’s no need for him to vie for popularity with the kinds of Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins or even Roman Reigns.
Taking nothing away from the likes of Drew Gulak, Lince Dorado & others, Gargano automatically qualifies to contest for the biggest prize there is to win in the division. A run for either the WWE Championship or the Universal Championship seems too sweet of a dream to be true at the moment.
#4 Triple H’s protection
It is no secret that things work out a little differently on the main roster compared to NXT. Regardless of the ‘Indie-style’ popularity among the WWE Universe, expectations of the authority figures running Raw & SmackDown Live are completely different.
Simply put, Triple H will continue to be Johnny Gargano’s best bet to get his character soaring without cutting down any of his in-ring skills.
#5 Potential Feuds
As mentioned before, the 205 Live division has a lot of untapped talent. And a whole different variety at that! Gargano could be instantly put in a program with the likes of Cedric Alexander, Drew Gulak or even one of the Luchadores, each of them bringing a different style to the table. The talent is there. With interesting booking, these could become spectacles instantly.
#6 Gargano vs Ciampa
This chapter is yet to get its closure. Ever since Ciampa turned his back on Gargano, the NXT Universe has been longing for these two former partners to give an epic end to their story. And with the slow-paced storytelling opted for this particular tale (forcibly, owing to Ciampa’s knee injury), this could be an instant highlight for 205 Live.
While there are chances that we might get to see them put their animosity to rest at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, it wouldn’t do justice to the extent of intense storytelling these two Superstars could indulge in. Perhaps, this could be 205 Live’s highlight at WrestleMania 35. Or perhaps, this could be the highlight of a future 205 Live exclusive PPV. Everyone’s a winner with this one!
