It was the start of CM Punk's historic 434 days WWE Championship reign, and it started off on a high note with a win against John Cena at Money in the Bank 2011.

CM Punk caught the eyes of the WWE Universe with his pipebomb promo on Raw a few weeks earlier, and he was a man of his words when he defeated John Cena to win the WWE Championship at MITB 2011.

Punk then defended the WWE title against Alberto Del Rio at SummerSlam and Triple H at Night of Champions. His fourth straight main event came in a triple threat match against John Cena and Alberto Del Rio in which he came out victorious.

CM Punk had a record-breaking run with the WWE Championship and dropped the title to the Rock at Royal Rumble 2013. He walked out of the WWE a year later and tried his luck inside the Octagon in two unsuccessful attempts.

Time heals many wounds, and we must wait to find out if we'll see Punk in a WWE ring once again.
