It is widely understood that the senior person in the ring makes the calls during the match, to take the match in the way that he feels will make for a good product.
This is not something Haas obliged to during a match in 2003 when he teamed up with Shelton Benjamin to face Eddie Guerrero and Chavo Guerrero.
Benjamin and Haas were a part of Team Angle, which was a faction led by Kurt Angle.
During the match, Eddie Guerrero injured his elbow and asked Haas to go easy on him, which the latter didn't follow through with.
After the match, Guerrero admonished Haas, but the latter was not ready for a confrontation and moved away from Guerrero. This angered Guerrero, who chased him, but was brought down by Haas and the two scuffled before it was broken up. (H/T The Sportster)
