#4 WWE Chairman Vince McMahon gave R-Truth the perfect advice to shape his character
The first, and only, 50-time Champion in WWE has been a great entertainer for the company for several years. R-Truth joined WWE in 1999 and has been competing on and off for the company for the past 20 years or so. While R-Truth has one of the most unique and refined characters in WWE, the Superstar has revealed that Vince McMahon was behind the character he plays on-screen.
Truth appeared on Sam Roberts’ Notsam Wrestling podcast and revealed the advice Vince McMahon gave him about his WWE career. Truth called Mr. McMahon the "Godfather of entertainment", and spoke about how he got him out of the habit of trying to be like others and told him to be more like himself.
"I would do promos, I would do interviews and things, and Vince was like, ‘That’s not R-Truth. Who the hell was that?" Vince would go onto to say, "You’re entertaining. You can speak and you’re entertaining. You can go in the ring and be entertaining. You can just be around people and be entertaining."
While a few Superstars have criticized Vince McMahon for not being in touch with the product, legends such as R-Truth have shown that Vince has taken a very hands-on approach with some of his top performers.
"I hear Vince in the back of my head saying, ‘You need to be yourself, be R-Truth. R-Truth wouldn’t do that – he wouldn’t say that. He wouldn’t act that way."
Truth is a valuable Superstar for WWE even though he’s almost 50-years-old now, and the legend has been one of Vince’s most trusted performers for years now.
