The WWE Universe is eagerly waiting for the Undertaker to accept John Cena’s challenge for a match at WrestleMania 34. It is going to be one of the biggest matches in the history of the company. On one corner will be the longest running face of the company, John Cena, and on another corner will be the man who transcended WrestleMania, the Undertaker.
The Undertaker has faced almost every major Superstar at WrestleMania. However, there are these six legends whom the Undertaker has never faced at WrestleMania.
#1 Goldberg
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Goldberg had a streak of his own in WCW. He was 173-0 till he lost to Kevin Nash at Starrcade PPV. Although the streak's number is highly controversial, it does speak a lot about the intensity which Bill Goldberg brought to the table.
In 2003, Goldberg signed a one-year contract with WWE. It would have been iconic for Goldberg to have an undefeated streak for one year in WWE, and then have him face the Undertaker at WrestleMania 20 (instead of Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar). Not to mention, this was the WrestleMania when the Undertaker returned to the 'Deadman' character.
Which streak do you think is more profound, 173-0 or 21-0?
#2 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin
Stone Cold was one of the most defiant employees for his boss, Vince McMahon. Austin was ruthless, hell-raising and a beer-drinking larger-than-life performer. He took the Attitude Era to the next level. Not to mention, Austin always loved to get his hands on Vince McMahon.
During Austin's run in WWE, he faced the Undertaker a couple of dozen times in both singles and Tag-Team matches. Their rivalry was one of the hottest ones in the WWE. They faced each other for the last time at Backlash 2002, when the Undertaker defeated Austin in nearly half an hour long match.
It is almost unbelievable that Austin has never faced the Undertaker at the Deadman’s own playground, WrestleMania.
#3 Sting
What the Undertaker meant for WWE is what Sting meant for WCW. Sting made his long-awaited WWE debut in 2014. Wrestling lovers across the globe were expecting to see Sting vs. the Undertaker at WrestleMania 31. This would have been a match for both WWE and WCW fans.
However, things went differently. The Sting went on to face Triple H at WrestleMania 31. The following year, Sting was the first member to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, where he announced his retirement.
If we could turn back the clock, we would have wished to see Sting vs. the Undertaker at WrestleMania 31.
#4 Mick Foley
The Undertaker and Mike Foley shared a fateful connection. It was the night of Hell in a Cell PPV (1998) when these two faced each other in the most demonic structure in WWE.
Mick Foley was thrown not once but twice from the top of the cell. He literally wrestled with a tooth stuck-up in his nose. It further took a chokeslam over metal pins followed by a tombstone pile-driver from the Undertaker to pin Mic Foley.
Mick Foley is arguably the toughest wrestler in WWE history. The punishment Foley could endure made him the first contender to break the Undertaker’s streak, had Foley got a chance to face the Undertaker at WrestleMania.
#5 Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan was one of the most dominant figures in WWE. Till today, we see wrestling fans entering the arenas wearing Hulkamania bandana. His match against the Rock was one of the most popular matches in the history of WrestleMania.
It would have been an all-time classic to have a match featuring the “immortal” Hulk Hogan and the “Deadman” Undertaker. Hulk Hogan took the torch from Andre the Giant at WrestleMania 3. Could he have taken away the streak from the Undertaker as well, had they both met at WrestleMania?
How do you feel about the two faces of WWE’s Mount Rushmore facing each other?
#6 The Rock
This match at WrestleMania shall indeed be "Once in a Lifetime" match for the WWE Universe. This match would feature the "People’s Champion" against the "Ultimate Dark Force" of WWE.
The Rock is the one wrestler who re-defined WWE with his electrifying persona. On the other hand, the Undertaker has redefined WrestleMania as his streak became more important than the WWE Championship itself at WrestleMania.
It would be a match for ages if these two compete against each other at WrestleMania. The Rock was the one who took the torch from Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18. Do you think the Rock could have pulled it off against the Undertaker at WrestleMania 28?
