While Chris Benoit has several major achievements to his name in WWE, many of the new generations of viewers won’t be too familiar with him.
Benoit joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1992 and worked his way into Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) before heading back to WCW and then into WWE in the year 2000.
He was known for his extreme threshold for pain and his unique fighting style that made him lethal even though he wasn’t a very large man. Many regarded him as one of the greatest wrestlers to set foot in WWE.
In 2004, Benoit first won the big one and became the WWE World Heavyweight Champion after defeating Triple H and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 20, following which he became the Tag Team Champion with Edge by defeating Ric Flair and Batista a few weeks later.
He lost the tag titles about one and a half months later and the World Heavyweight Championship a few weeks after that to Randy Orton.
