Brock Lesnar's first feud of his second WWE run was with John Cena

After eight years away from WWE, during which time he became one of the biggest MMA stars on the planet, Brock Lesnar made his long-awaited return to the company in April 2012.

His first match back was against John Cena at Extreme Rules 2012 – widely regarded as one of the best WWE pay-per-views of the decade – and the encountere headlined the show ahead of two major title matches.

Many expected Lesnar to win on his return, but the pinfall victory went to “The Face That Runs The Place” after he struck his opponent with a metal chain and hit him with an Attitude Adjustment onto the steel steps.
