#1 WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey was already famous in the sporting world before joining the company

Former RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey was already a big name in sports before she stepped into the WWE ring. Rousey started her sporting career in Judo where she won several medals and titles.

In 2006, she became the World Cup Senior Gold Medalist and won the same title again in 2008. Rousey became a Summer Olympics Senior Bronze Medalist in 2008, after which she retired from the sport.

The Baddest Woman on the Planet then started taking interest in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Rousey won the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship in March 2012. She was awarded the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Women's Bantamweight Champion in December 2012 and held the title for almost three years in which time she had six successful defenses.

The WWE Superstar posted a video on her YouTube Channel where she revealed why she wanted to leave a mark in MMA:

“I wanted to make women’s MMA take off and I was looking at what the women’s fights didn’t have that the men’s had. Because women could have exciting fights but nobody gave a s**t and I was trying to figure out why nobody gave a s**t.”

While Rousey is currently away from the ring, fans can’t wait to watch her return to WWE where several dream matches are awaiting her.
