WWE WrestleMania 34 Review: Most Important Moments of the PPV

Mercedes-Benz Superdome
WrestleMania 34 was chock full of memorable moments that took place in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

WrestleMania is the biggest pay-per-view event of the year and the 2018 spectacular didn't disappoint as far as its promise to be grandiose, that's for sure.

Every single WWE event has its fair share of important elements and some filler, with WrestleMania being one of those shows that is so densely packed with material that it will have major ramifications for months to come.

To talk about every single key component would be to rundown the whole card, essentially, but despite all of the massive segments, there are still some which stand out above the rest as the absolute biggest and most significant for the evening, which is what we're going to break down here.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

With WrestleMania 34 in the bag, it's time for us to look back and single out the most paramount moments from the event, in no particular order.

#6 Ronda Rousey's debut impresses

Ronda Rousey
Ronda Rousey gets rowdy by beating up the boss at WrestleMania 34.

It seemed to be a foregone conclusion that Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle would be successful in their match against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H, but the booking of that couldn't necessarily account for the quality of it.

Based on what she had done beforehand with her in-ring work and her promos, Rousey was fairly bad so far, yet she was able to come off so much more natural in this, for some reason.

In one fell swoop, she went from being someone who could have easily put a black mark on the event by looking awful to having what could be considered the best match of the night!

If this is what we have to expect from her going forward, she should have an impressive career in WWE, and it all starts here with a decisive victory over the bosses.

#5 Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn fired after Daniel Bryan's in-ring return victory

Daniel Bryan
The Yes Movement is back in full swing with Daniel Bryan's first victory in years.

This should be no surprise, either, as it was one of the most predictable matches on a card that admittedly had plenty of shocking twists and turns in store for us that we couldn't have been aware of in advance.

Despite all those swerves, a reliable prediction going into this was that Daniel Bryan's in-ring return would be met with lots of pomp and circumstance, a happy crowd and a victory on the babyface team's end, which it did in spades.

This also means that, per the story, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will remain banished from SmackDown Live, unless that is changed on Monday or Tuesday night.

Knowing WWE, it could all be thrown out the window, or this could just be leading to a storyline with Owens and Zayn being signed to Raw in the next Superstar Shake-Up, so keep your eyes peeled not just for the next part in that storyline, but the future potential matches Bryan will be taking part in now that he's back in the ring.

#4 Braun Strowman and Nicholas win Raw Tag Team Championship titles

Braun Strowman and Nicholas
A ten-year-old is now holding a championship in WWE. What is going on in 2018?

On paper, this sounds absolutely ridiculous—just as it does in every other aspect.

The build-up of the mystery of Braun Strowman's tag team partner ended up having a payoff of a random kid in the audience being picked to fight alongside him.

Of course, this kid was no legitimate random member of the WWE Universe, but referee John Cone's son Nicholas, who stood on the apron and watched as The Monster Among Men dismantled The Bar to win the Raw tag team titles.

Unless it is somehow stricken from the record books, Nicholas will go down as the youngest champion of any kind in WWE history at 10 years old.

What in the world is going on right now with this tag team division and this storyline? We just have to tune in to find out the direction WWE is going to take this.

#3 Shinsuke Nakamura turns heel on AJ Styles

Shinsuke Nakamura
All respect goes out the window with one low-blow from Shinsuke Nakamura.

Winning the Royal Rumble was the career highlight for Shinsuke Nakamura so far and it seemed to anoint him the next WWE champion come WrestleMania, particularly as the idea of a dream match between he and AJ Styles built up an air of respect and admiration between the two.

It all seemed so easy to predict: Nakamura would win the title, they would shake hands, and Styles would potentially go over to Raw as a trade while SmackDown would have a new champion to reign for a little while.

However, The Phenomenal One was able to retain his championship with a Styles Clash, leading to a frustrated Nakamura nailing him with a low-blow out of spite.

This was a shock in multiple ways, to say the least, as it changes the landscape of the main event scene of SmackDown considerably.

Perhaps Styles stays on the blue brand. Maybe Nakamura moves over to Raw. Could there be a title change happening at the Greatest Royal Rumble rather than at WrestleMania? How is Nakamura going to handle this shift in character now that he's heel for the first time in WWE?

Instead of just wondering who would challenge a babyface Nakamura for the belt next, this swerve to keep the championship on Styles will be absolutely huge in dictating the future of SmackDown's title picture.

#2 Roman Reigns fails to capture Universal Championship

Roman Reigns
The Big Dog failed big time at WrestleMania 34.

It seemed like a certainty that Roman Reigns would come out of the main event with a win over Brock Lesnar, particularly when he had kicked out of multiple F5s, but no, The Beast Incarnate kept his dominant reign going at least one more evening.

Fans aren't likely to start cheering Reigns the way WWE wants them to or anything along those lines, but everybody who saw the writing on the wall for Lesnar's exit from the company and passing the torch to The Big Dog now has to reevaluate what's to come for the Universal Championship.

Just like the Nakamura and Styles situation, is this going to lead to a title change soon in order to accomplish the same goal, but with the plan in motion to swerve everybody at WrestleMania for the sake of a surprise, or are there different ideas in mind?

Could Lesnar be holding this championship for another year straight and dropping it at WrestleMania 35 instead?

In any scenario, who will be that person chosen to dethrone him if it isn't Reigns?

It's also worth noting that this might be a sign that WWE's creative team has finally come to the realization that the audience just isn't going to accept Reigns as they want the crowd to, and it's time to stop trying to meet resistance with resistance, but to seek a different route.

We should see the first steps in whatever those new plans are with tonight's episode of Raw.

#1 Asuka's undefeated streak ends

Asuka
Asuka's streak ends at WrestleMania 34.

Perhaps the most shocking thing of the entire evening was seeing yet another champion retain their title against the much more heavily favored opponent with Charlotte Flair holding onto the SmackDown Women's Championship over Asuka.

Somehow, The Queen defied the odds and knocked off The Empress of Tomorrow by submission, ending Asuka's massively impressive undefeated streak.

Just as with the other titles which didn't change hands, this will have an immense influence on the coming months, as it seemed like it was fairly certain the SmackDown women's division was going to be built around Asuka's dominance.

Even further than that, the prospect of a match between Ronda Rousey and an undefeated Asuka at WrestleMania next year is clearly out the window now, and even if they do face off, it won't mean as much with Asuka having already taken at least one loss.

Does that mean those plans were scrapped and we should start prepping ourselves for Rousey against Flair instead, with the Four Horsewomen on both sides being the angle, or are there still ideas for how to keep Asuka's momentum going even without her streak?

Who will be the next person to challenge Flair, too? Nobody has the clout Asuka has, so isn't everything going to be a step down from this?

The women's division could be seeing some big moves in the coming weeks just to rearrange the puzzle pieces for these two women alone, and now that Asuka is no longer undefeated, WWE has lost a significant
