Who will be next big challenge for the beast?

Over the last few decades, WWE have booked several dream matches which are etched in the memory of wrestling fans across the planet. The emotion which transpires from the build-up until the conclusion of these is such that it gives a story to remember.

In the current landscape of WWE, there are a couple of matches which have the potential to treat the fans with similar feelings. Let’s look at seven such matches which can take the WWE Universe for an emotional ride.

#7 Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor – for the WWE Universal Championship

This can be the main-event of SummerSlam 2019.
This can be the main-event of SummerSlam 2019.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Finn Balor won the inaugural WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2016. Sadly, he was forced to relinquish his newly won championship the very next day due to shoulder injury which he sustained during the same match. Fans would never forget the moment when he popped his shoulder back in the socket during that match.

It has been close to three years since then, but Balor has never been near the Universal Championship. A few might argue that he was awarded the Universal Championship match at Royal Rumble earlier this year. However, it was more of a storyline to cement Brock Lesnar’s way to WrestleMania 35 rather than being a fighting chance for Balor.

However, the stage is set now for the “Demon King”. The man who he defeated to win the inaugural championship, Seth Rollins, is the current WWE Universal Champion. Not to mention, the “Architect” is in the best run of his career, and having him defend his championship against the “Extraordinary Man” will be a match which the fans would love to see.

Who do you think will come out victorious, if this dream contest indeed becomes a reality?

#6 AJ Styles vs Aleister Black

This will surely be Phenomenal.
This will surely be Phenomenal.

AJ Styles is widely regarded as one of the best wrestlers in the world for quite some time now. He has played a pivotal role in SmackDown Live storylines. From the time he was drafted to RAW, the fans are expecting nothing less from the “Phenomenal One” on the flagship show.

On the other hand, Aleister Black is one of the brightest gems discovered in the mines of NXT. During his short run on the main roster, he has impressed in his tag-team matches along with Ricochet, before being re-drafted to SmackDown Live.

Although these two Superstars are on different rosters, the recently introduced Wild-Card rule can come handy here. It will be a pleasant surprise for the fans to witness the clash of the experience and the rookie. It will be great to see how AJ Styles works with this young talented Superstar, which would undoubtedly polish the former NXT champion further.

#5 John Cena vs Randy Orton – One Last Time at WrestleMania 36

One more match!
One more match!

John Cena and Randy Orton are two of the biggest Superstars of their generation. The former played the Babyface, who constantly clashed with the latter, who played the Heel. However, these two haven’t faced each other in a one-on-one match on the biggest stage.

These two future Hall of Famers have 29 World Championships between them. Further, they have faced each other for 22 times in a singles match, 10 of which were championship matches, with the gold changing hands in 4 of them. The statistics say it all about what has transpired between these two men.

Both these Superstars are at the stage of their career, where they don’t have many matches left in them. Not to mention, John Cena is already making countable appearances in a year. Hence, having these two Superstars challenge each other for the last time could be topped only by the fact of them doing it at WrestleMania 36.

#4 Roman Reigns vs. Lars Sullivan – Superman vs. Super Villain

Soon?
Soon?

Despite his short run on the WWE roster, Lars Sullivan has made a significant impact with his ruthless wrestling style. It won’t be long before he starts getting his hands on the top Babyfaces in the business to make his way to the top.

On the other hand, Roman Reigns is now one of the most established Superstars on the current roster. Practically, he doesn’t have anyone left to carve out a new rivalry. He needs to face new opponents for a fresh rivalry. Hence, having him booked in a storyline against Sullivan would be an idea which might already be in the air in the WWE think-tank’s room.

There is no doubt that the “Big Dog” is the undisputed Superman of the WWE Universe. He could be looking at the perfect Super Villain he has been waiting for in the form of Lars Sullivan.

#3 Cesaro vs Samoa Joe – Heel vs Heel match

Whom would you cheer for?
Whom would you cheer for?

Over the years, WWE is known for pitting two legends against each other in an icon vs. icon match. Both the Superstars in such matches are fans favourites, and the audience usually splits themselves in halves, one each cheering for their respective favourite.

However, this could be a unique match where both Superstars are two of the top Heels on the WWE roster. Despite being Heels, Samoa Joe and Cesaro are the two Superstars who are always cheered by the fans thanks to their dedicated performances. WWE Universe vociferously chants “Joe-Joe” every time the current United States Champion makes his way to the ring. Similarly, fans make their support heard when Cesaro took the match to the ending despite having a serious teeth injury at No Mercy (2017).

It could be a classic match to have these two face each other, dividing the fans to cheer for their favourite Heel.

#2 Brock Lesnar vs Braun Strowman – the Beast Incarnate vs the Monster Among Men

Can the result be different this time?
Can the result be different this time?

Since the time Braun Strowman started his monstrous run more than a year ago, the WWE Universe has been eagerly waiting for him to get his hands on Brock Lesnar. Although these two behemoths have faced each other twice in the past, both matches received heavy criticism due to their bookings.

Their first one-on-one collision took place at No Mercy (2017). The match was received with a high degree of disappointment by both fans and critics as it went in contrast to the ability and character of the “Monster Among Men”. Their second bout went with a sour taste as well when Baron Corbin attacked Strowman moments before the match started, which fed the Monster to the Beast at Crown Jewel.

The fans would love to see these two have a go at each other in an evenly fair power-packed match.

#1 Triple H vs Drew McIntyre – The ultimate face turn

This is the that match McIntyre needs.
This is the that match McIntyre needs.

This match could have a rather unconventional story attached to it as both these Superstars majorly play Heel. Although these are two of the tops Heels in WWE as of now, there is a possibility for the writers to pull this one off.

Over the last couple of months, Drew McIntyre has been getting a constant push. Since his return on the main roster in April 2018, he has impressed with his in-ring abilities as well as his microphone skills. He has genuinely made the Claymore Kick look like one of the most deadly moves on the roster.

On the other hand, Triple H is at a stage of his career where he can put younger talent over and act as a major catalyst pushing the latter's career in the right direction. Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns are just a few who an be named. Hence, when the WWE decides to pave a way for the 'Scottish Psychopath' to be booked as a Babyface, 'The Game' could be a solid way to do it.
