I can hear my critics now - "Cody doesn't want to come back and never will!" You know, you might very well be correct with that thought. However, IF the thought ever did cross his mind and for whatever reason, he did want to make a return to the "E," there should be no hesitation on behalf of the company. In fact, there should be a Cody Rhodes welcoming committee, waiting to usher the second-generation star back home.

Cody is someone who I never blamed a bit for leaving. In fact, if I were in his situation, I would have probably left a lot sooner. The way he was mismanaged and held back during his final years with WWE, it was absolutely disgusting and a slap in his legendary father's face.
At this point in his career, Cody seems to be doing just fine. He is the current Ring of Honor World Champion, a member of the best faction in wrestling today, The Bullet Club and above all, he is happy.

While I haven't spoken to him directly it is easy to see the happiness on his face. Happiness is something that cannot be bought with any lucrative contract. Its value is beyond any dollar amount one can configure.
So, if Cody is happier away from WWE, good for him. However, if he does decide he wants to return at any point in the future, everyone should welcome him back... with open arms.

Jonathan Carpenter is a pro wrestling journalist at Sportskeeda. After obtaining a degree in political science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, he started writing WWE articles in 2016. Jonathan believes integrity is vital in journalism and ensures his work is high on accuracy. He conducts in-depth research and verifies information from various sources before curating a feature.
Jonathan has engaged in many meaningful conversations with prominent pro wrestling personalities like Drew McIntyre and DDP. He grew up in Memphis, admiring Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan during WWE’s Golden Era in the ‘80s. He has attended many pro wrestling events and credits The Hulkster for making his childhood memorable.
Jonathan, a big fan of Bray Wyatt, would like to see the latter's brother, Bo Dallas, continue his legacy as Uncle Howdy. If he were to work on the storyline, Jonathan would book the return of Erick Rowan as Howdy’s muscle. He thinks it would be a great way to honor the former Universal Champion.
When not writing pro wrestling features, Jonathan likes to collect sports memorabilia and has amassed a large collection of event-used and autographed relics over the years.
