Kofi Kingston has been in pursuit of a WWE Championship ever since he replaced Mustafa Ali in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match at Elimination Chamber. He lasted about an hour in a gauntlet match (and defeated Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy, and Samoa Joe along the way), put up a spirited effort against Daniel Bryan as one of the final two superstars left in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match, and pinned Daniel Bryan in a six-man tag team match on SmackDown Live.
However, Vince McMahon has repeatedly taken his opportunities away from him and is now saying that if Kofi Kingston wants to go to WrestleMania, he has to run the gauntlet on SmackDown Live in the opening match of the show.
