#5. Finn Balor moving back to NXT
The Fiend's first victim was none other than Finn Balor - who was written off at SummerSlam 2019 and went on a hiatus to get married. After his break was done, many anticipated that he would simply return in his role on SmackDown, but instead, the circumstances had changed.
NXT landed the big USA Network deal and knew that they needed some major names and major returns to get a buzz and good viewership. Balor, who spent a few years dominating NXT (being the longest-reigning NXT Champion ever) seemed more than happy to return and when he did, he confronted the current Champion Adam Cole.
While it looked like we would get the same babyface Balor, there was a twist - he would turn heel and assault Johnny Gargano. He has since gone on a "lone wolf" heel run and brought back his "Prince" character from his NJPW days.
Balor returning to NXT was a shocking and bizarre move in the eyes of many, but in hindsight, it was probably the right one. It was a big moment and got a lot of attention.
