#1 Sycho Sid's leg snaps in half
This incident definitely tops the list of the most gruesome injuries ever inside a pro wrestling ring. At WCW's "Sin" PPV in 2001, Sid was involved in a match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship when he suffered a terrible injury.
WCW management apparently felt that Sid's move arsenal needed to be expanded and Sid was asked to perform an aerial move despite his unwillingness. To carry out the move, Sid climbed on to the second rope, looking to perform a big boot. But, he landed awkwardly, putting all his bodyweight on his left leg alone, causing it to snap immediately.
Sid fractured both his Tibia and Fibula bones and had to have a 17-inch rod placed inside his leg through surgery.
