Not soon, but eventually

Cody left the WWE after spending almost a decade in the promotion. After his departure, he has been working some amazing matches and at the same time, he has been trying his hand out at acting as well. The Cody outside WWE is entirely different from the Cody that we used to know. The different might be because of the creative freedom that he has these days.

His work with ROH saw him become the ROH World Champion, ending the Runnels/Rhodes family world title drought after 3 decades. He challenged Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Title, but was unsuccessful.

He is not controlled by the WWE creative team and he has enough freedom to choose matches that will project his positives. At the current pace, Cody is going to be one of the most valuable Independent performers in a year or so and that’s when WWE could try to bring him back.

But since Cody already has an impression among the WWE Universe, WWE would want to wash it off and what better way to do it than letting Cody defeat Brock Lesnar?
