#2 Aleister Black was just getting reintroduced to the WWE Universe

Aleister Black was one of the shock WWE releases. He had returned via vignettes following WrestleMania 37. He would tell tales of "the Dark Father" and the lessons he instilled in a young Black during those vignettes. It was an intriguing and interesting direction for the talented performer.
Before his re-emergence, Black hadn't been seen on WWE TV since last fall. His wife, Zelina Vega, was released in December of 2020. Both were drafted to SmackDown last October.

The former NXT Champion even noted the fact that he was shocked since he was just starting to introduce his new character to the WWE Universe. Now the fans won't get to find out more about the intriguing persona.
If AEW wants to add both a pro wrestler and someone who can pull off character work, then signing Tommy End (his pre-WWE name) is a no-brainer. His style would mesh well with everyone in AEW and his mysterious backstory could be fully explored.
Some stars that have success in NXT don't always enjoy the same success on the main roster of WWE. Aleister Black falls into that category through no fault of his own. In order to make a pro wrestling show truly interesting, it takes performers of all different types.
If every performer is essentially the same, then the show will be mediocre. Black could have been a foil for the Fiend or some of the other top stars in WWE. He can now make a huge impact by showing up at AEW All Out.
