The WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match was the hottest thing going into the pay-per-view as fans were truly not sure who was going to walk out of the match as the WWE Champion.

WWE did a good job of creating a sense of ambiguity in the build-up to this match, as everyone from Kofi Kingston to AJ Styles was pegged as a possible winner, but the one man who many thought would finally get his hands on the gold was Samoa Joe.

Joe was a revelation in the build to this match, as his mic work, in-ring performances and all-around character work were on fire, no one was hotter in the last few weeks than Joe, but who knew that was all for nothing, as Joe was the first man eliminated in this match.

This was a shocking moment to many fans because Joe looked primed by WWE to punch his ticket to Wrestlemania.
