Bret Hart's reluctance to lose in Canada led to the Montreal Screwjob

Many wrestlers have speculated that Bret Hart had lost the ability to distinguish between reality and kayfabe, and by refusing to lose in Canada, deserved to have the ‘Montreal Screwjob’ happen to him. One of the few instances in which wrestling has broken kayfabe on screen, The Montreal Screwjob is an infamous episode in WWE history.
Vince McMahon stopped a match between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart despite the planned finish, when Michaels got Hart in the Sharpshooter. McMahon was afraid that Bret would carry the WWE Championship to WCW, which led to this tragic episode. Clink link below.
