The roads were awfully skiddy on that fateful rainy night in Charlotte, North Carolina. One of biggest stars of NWA was riding in his Porsche and next thing you know his car is wrapped up around a telephone pole.
It took two hours for someone to finally notice a seriously injured man having a near-death experience at the side of the road. He was rushed to the hospital and it was revealed that his C-4 and C-5 vertebrae had exploded. On that day, Magnum T.A. promising career was sadly cut short at the age of 27.

Deifying odds, the 2-time NWA US Heavyweight Champion went on to talk on his feet after a brief spell under paralysis. His star power was such that around 75,000 letters from fans and well-wishers were collected from the medical facility at which he was admitted.
The tragic part is that he was scheduled to win the US title for the third time which was said to be the beginning of his push towards becoming the NWA Heavyweight Champion.
T.A., real name Terry Wayne Allen would make his first WWE appearance in June 2007 at the Vengence: Night Of Champions PPV.
