#3 The rise of Sonya Deville
Sonya Deville was an interesting prospect down in NXT she was given the gimmick of an MMA fighter that takes no prisoners, while things didn't work out the way many had thought for the star, WWE seems to be building up Deville in the background.
As her huge win over Charlotte Flair, this week on SmackDown Live showed how much faith WWE probably has in her.
Even though it was not a clean victory as Asuka turned on Flair late in the match due to the two stars having issues with one another, a pinfall victory over arguably the most protected star in all of WWE is enough to take Deville far.
#4 Rusev's pursuit of the US Title
Rusev is a Superstar that has seen the highs of success and the disappointment of failure this year, as the likable big man has been on a rollercoaster on SmackDown Live.
From being the No.1 contender for the WWE Title to being stuck on the pre-show, Rusev has seen it all this year, and after being once again neglected by the WWE creative team for the last few weeks.
Rusev's programme with Shinsuke Nakamura could see the former US Champion become the current US Champion.
This week on Smackdown Live, Rusev delivered a strong promo that highlighted his respect for the US Title, as it is the only main roster title he has ever held in the WWE.
Hopefully, Rusev's words propel him closer to the gold, as it seems like the writers are setting him and Shinsuke up for a huge storyline that will surely entertain.
#5 Samoa Joe's resurgence
Samoa Joe has had an unfortunate two years on the main roster.
And while he was in wars with Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles for the Wolrd Titles, Joe has not been given that one final push by management to go forward and capture the gold.
Ask any wrestling fan around, and they will tell you that Joe is the real deal, the man oozes charisma and has a badass nature to him that can't be found in many superstars wrestling today.
So when Joe interrupted Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton's match this week on Smackdown Live to deliver another hard-hitting promo on Hardy's past, you knew it was going to be good.
Joe cut right to the matter at hand and picked on Hardy's worst part of his life, and while some might say bringing up Jeff's problems of his past is a cheap way to garner heat, then what is the purpose of a heel?
There's a fine line with using that type of material, and Samoa Joe walks on the dotted line perfectly.
