WrestleMania 35 was not as flashy as its previous installment, as WWE double downed on the extravagant set, the multiple entrances that had pyro, and clever booking that would have seen WWE implement many interesting swerves on the show.
But this Wrestle<ania did have one thing that set it apart from the rest, and that was WWE giving the fans what they wanted. We saw so many fan favourite superstars crowned champions on the show, and it was shocking to see this happen, as it is a rarity when fans receive one good title change on the show, but almost five great ones are never heard of this era of the company.
From Kofi Kinston realising his dream to a new queen of the women's division being crowned, WWE stepped up their game with WrestleMania this year, and while it is good to note that this show had many mistakes, it was still a good watch. If one thing made this show interesting it was the many shocking decisions made on the show, as that elevated and devalued the show at the same time.
#7 An Unbelievable Start
There were so many WWE fans that had their favourite choice of match to start the show, as the options varied from Randy Orton vs AJ Styles to Miz vs Shane McMahon, but no one really thought that the match at that would start Wrestlemania 35 would be The Universal Title war between Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar.
After the host of Wrestlemania Alexa Bliss came out and created her own WrestleMania moment by posing with the legendary Hulk Hogan, Paul Heyman came out and declared that his client was insulted not to be main eventing the show. So Lesnar and Rollins came out and started this match in shocking fashion.
#6 The New Universal Champion
The rumours said that Lesnar would retain, the critics said that Rollins' time was not now, and most of the WWE Universe knew that WWE was not going to let Lesnar drop the belt, but we were all wrong, as WWE proved all the speculation false.
Seth Rollins is the new Universal Champion, and that is something most thought we would never see, as it seemed like Lesnar's reign of terror was set to continue for a long time. However, WWE has other plans in mind, so we can only wait and watch what the creative team does next.
#5 A Giant Leap
Let's just get this out of the way, this match was close to being awesome, as with just a few more minutes and maybe another spot or two, we could have witnessed the best street fight WWE has put on in a long time.
But the most shocking thing in this match was the fact Shane won. However, the way in which WWE did it was just fantastic. After Miz had beat Shane all over the MetLife stadium, these two men fought up to the top of a structure and Miz suplexed Shane from fifteen feet to the floor.
This move should have destroyed Shane, but Miz's anger prevented him from realizing that Shane would land on him when they came crashing down, which gave Shane the win. This was a shocking finish and a smart one if WWE wants to continue Shane's reign on Smackdown Live.
#4 An Iconic Win
Everyone knew going into the Women's Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania that Sasha Banks and Bayley were going to probably come out from the match with titles in hand, as WWE would not want them to drop the titles this early into its existence.
But here we are, and The IIconics have come away with tag team titles at the event, this was something most didn't see coming, as The IIconics were the underdogs in this match, and they won the titles by using that to their advantage.
The Australian duo scored the victory by using Beth Phoenix to do the hard work, and the heels profited. This is a new era for the titles, and The Iconics may be the best choice, as they may be the best heels at generating heat.
#3 KofiMania
The world was shocked after the WWE Title match between Kofi Kingston and Daniel Bryan, as no one thought we would ever see Kofi Kingston become the WWE Champion, but kudos to WWE for rewarding one of their most loyal employees of the last decade with a well deserved World Title win.
Kofi's rise to the main event was a surreal one, as he was the last minute addition in the Elimination Chamber match where he almost came away with the gold, and everyone knew that it was only a matter of time before Kofi got his chance. At Wrestlemania 35 Kofi got his chance, as he outwrestled Daniel Bryan in what is sure to become a WrestleMania classic, and this was a moment that will never be forgotten by fans.
#2 Rey Gets Steamrolled
What Samoa Joe did to Rey Mysterio was the exact same thing the legendary luchador did to JBL all those years ago at Wrestlemania 25 - he shockingly squashed him. This match got underway quick, as Joe and Rey started throwing their biggest moves at one another before fans could even realize that Rey had faded due to Joe's patented coquina clutch.
So the question here that needs to be asked is, was this the right call? That depends on your mood at the time. If you were fatigued from watching almost four hours of wrestling, then it might have been great to witness a short match that did not go on forever. But on the other hand, you would be angry with WWE giving these two talented in-ring performers such little time so that Triple H could ride around on his motorcycle for another five minutes.
#1 Word Life
When WWE announced that Elias would receive his own segment at WrestleMania, fans knew that it meant he was going to get interrupted once again, but this time it was going to be a wrestling legend that would do the honors.
Names such as the Undertaker, The Honky Tonk Man, and The Rock were all being tossed around for this role, but no one would have imagined that Elias' interrupter would be John Cena, and it was not the plain old PG John Cena; it was the Doctor of Thuganomics.
Cena delivered a ruthless promo in which he brought back many nostalgic elements from his white-hot run in 2003, and this was a great surprise by WWE, as it helped appreciate Cena's presence in the WWE even more.
