#1 WWE SmackDown hacker storyline

Ominous vignettes surfaced around the start of 2020 in WWE, usually ending with the sinister message ‘The Truth will be heard’. The Hacker appeared to be a fan favorite on the 3rd April episode of WWE SmackDown, when the figure intervened in the Mandy Rose love triangle storyline and exposed Sonya Deville and Dolph Ziggler as the reason that Otis and Mandy Rose never had their date.
Two weeks later, the Hacker delivered another message saying, ‘We have heard all the lies, but when will we hear the truth? Some keep their friends close, others keep their enemies closer’. The message also included clips of various active tag teams at the time.
In addition to this, on the 8th May episode of SmackDown, the Hacker showed more footage of tag team wrestlers, leaving a cryptic message at the end - ‘Payback is coming, and it’s coming real soon’.
As the Hacker already exposed Deville and Ziggler, it appeared they were about to intervene in another storyline, potentially breaking up a tag team. Although some tag teams shown in the clip are no longer together, including Sasha Banks and Bayley, it was never clear who the hacker was specifically trying to expose.
It was eventually confirmed on the 19th October episode of WWE RAW that Mustafa Ali was the mysterious hacker. His reasoning was that he wanted to expose the superstars who ‘plotted and backstabbed each other’. However, what he still failed to mention was which tag team he intended to expose and who was seeking payback from the message he recorded, ultimately leaving this storyline unresolved.
