There has been talk of a big push for Big E, but nothing has materialised

I assume putting the Intercontinental Championship around Big E’s waist was more of a test that the current tag team competitor failed. There is a lot to like about him. He is a crowd favourite, he is mechanical, and he is powerful. He has a look which appeals to the younger generation.

But there isn’t the powerful appearance that he should have. Maybe a new look, a new gimmick gets over and he moves the needle forward. Maybe there is another run in the mid-card in his future. But Big E, regardless of the rumours of a push as a singles star, will never stand atop the WWE mountain.
