#3. Steve Austin's injury that changed WWE
Steve Austin and Owen Hart squared off for the Intercontinental Championship on August 3, 1997. The much-anticipated contest changed Austin's life forever.
Hart lifted The Texas Rattlesnake for a pile driver, but it was botched and Austin landed on his neck. Austin couldn't feel anything, and it's speculated that he was temporarily paralyzed.
However, he gathered all his strength to roll up Hart for the victory. Reports revealed a severe spinal and neck injury, and Austin was sidelined for months.
When he returned, he became the beloved Stone Cold and arguably one of the greatest wrestlers ever. However, the post-concussion syndrome of the injury forced him to bid farewell to the sport in 2003.
