Hogan won his first Royal Rumble match in 1990. He was the WWF champion when he won the Royal Rumble. As a result, he headlined Wrestlemania 6 where he faced the Ultimate Warrior in a title vs. title match.

Hogan won his second Royal Rumble match in 1991 and became the first wrestler to win two consecutive Royal Rumble matches. He won his third WWF title at Wrestlemania 7 where defeated Sgt. Slaughter.
