8 WWE opponents for Ronda Rousey

Is a WWE run on the cards for Ronda Rousey?

UFC 207 takes place on December 30th, and the featured attraction is the return of probably the UFC’s best-known name – Ronda Rousey. After what was a historic run in the UFC, Rousey lost her first match against Holly Holm at UFC 193. Ronda has not stepped into the octagon for a year since then, but she makes her much-anticipated comeback against Amanda Nunes at the 207 PPV.

However, in an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres, Rousey claimed that this would be one of her last fights. This leaves the door wide open for Rousey to come to WWE, and considering that she’s a big fan of professional wrestling, this certainly seems like a real possibility. Stephanie McMahon even remarked that she certainly hopes Rousey can come in. But if she does come in, who does Rousey square off against first?

Here are 8 legitimate contenders.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#8- Nia Jax

This would be a women’s match like we’ve never seen before

Until recently, female performers in WWE were just shapely supermodels who could barely take a bump. Nia Jax has a physique that has never been seen before in the women’s division. A match between her and Rousey would be the first of its kind, among women performers in professional wrestling history.

Nia’s size affords the contest a believability that would make one wonder if Rousey can take this beast down. This would be an encounter between an irresistible force and an immovable object, yet another first for the Women’s Revolution. The mere spectacle of these two behemoths squaring off would sell tickets.

#7- Eva Marie

Who wouldn’t want to see Eva Marie squashed to a pulp?

Let’s face it, guys. We all know that Ronda Rousey will go over comprehensively in her first match. So, why not pit her against an opponent she can squash? The Eva Marie- Asuka feud was entertaining because the crowd totally wanted to see Eva Marie annihilated.

Before Eva Marie got suspended for her Wellness Policy violation, she was finding ways to avoid getting into the ring and competing, much to the chagrin of the crowd. Having Ronda Rousey take her apart, limb by limb will make the crowd euphoric indeed. Because a car cash always attracts a big crowd.

#6- Bayley

WWE could really tell the story of the ultimate underdog with this

For this match to make sense, Bayley will have to go into this match with something to prove; where her cute, girly nature will have to be curbed, as she faces the biggest challenge of her life in Ronda Rousey. It is also the best chance for Ronda to go heel, by taking on the most beloved babyface in wrestling.

Bayley is a good worker, so we’re sure she’ll put on a match worthy of Ronda Rousey’s debut. The creative team will have to step up their game, though, to make it seem like a believable and big ticket match.

#5- Nikki Bella

Why not pit WWE’s most recognizable diva against MMA’s most recognizable face?

John Cena is the best-known wrestler, perhaps in the history of the sport. Because Ronda Rousey's debut will get a lot of mainstream coverage in the regular press, why shouldn’t WWE book her in a match against John Cena’s girlfriend, Nikki Bella?

Nikki is a name that a lot of casual fans know as well as she’a part of reality shows like Total Divas and Total Bellas. A match of this nature will attract many new viewers. Moreover, considering how much Nikki has improved in the ring, she can wrestle a good match against Rousey.

#4- Asuka

The undefeated Empress of Tomorrow vs Rousey will be a contest to remember

When we think of opponents who will look like a legitimate threat to Ronda Rousey, only one name comes to mind. Asuka has been undefeated for over a year, ever since she made her NXT debut. We’re sure she’ll be called up soon, and be a top player on either Raw or Smackdown.

Well, if this is the case, Asuka is the perfect opponent for Rousey, who would probably squash anyone else in her way with ease. Fans would keep guessing as to the outcome of this match, even though it would be very unlikely for Rousey to lose.

#3- Sasha Banks

WWE’s top babyface vs MMA’s biggest name will be a match for the ages

Sasha Banks is the most popular babyface in the women’s division today. Every match she is part of is historic in its own way. She was in the first Iron Woman match, and also the first ever women’s Hell in a Cell contest.

A match between her and Rousey would not just be big news; it would be a good match because no other wrestler steps up to the plate for a big match like Sasha. This match would be off-the-charts crazy.

#2- Stephanie McMahon

Stephanie is the most likely contender for Rousey anyway

At Wrestlemania 31, Stephanie McMahon slapped The Rock in front of 70000 people. The Rock said that he does not beat up women, and called his friend Ronda Rousey from the audience to beat Stephanie up.

The daughter of Meekmahan has been getting away with slapping wrestlers with no threat of retaliation for many months now. This is a match that has to happen, for Stephanie to (kayfabe) get what she deserves. It won’t be a good match, but memorable? Yes!

#1- Charlotte

The Women’s Champion has exchanged Twitter trash talk with Ronda Rousey before

Ronda Rousey is a renowned figure from the MMA world and has also won an Olympic medal. The one thing that she hasn’t done is capture the top women's championship in sports entertainment. She has publicly said that she would like to do so. Charlotte responded to Ronda and told her to ‘get in line.'

This is a ready storyline that has the potential to be the biggest women's wrestling angle, maybe in the history of the business. If Ronda does come in, it’s only a matter of time before we see these two square off.
