Shinsuke Nakamura likely will not even compete at this year's WrestleMania.

Shinsuke Nakamura won the 2018 Men's Royal Rumble by last eliminating both Roman Reigns and John Cena. The King of Strong Style then chose to challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 34. While many believe that the match failed to live up to the impossibly high expectations, it was still a really good match that had a very innovative finish in which Styles countered the Kinshasa into a Styles Clash to get the victory. Nakamura would then turn heel by attacking The Phenomenal One after the match.

Shinsuke Nakamura briefly formed a tag team with Rusev after the two feuded over the United States Championship. The two challenged SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos at WrestleMania 35 in a fatal four-way tag team match that also involved The Bar and the team of Aleister Black and Ricochet. While neither Nakamura nor Rusev was pinned, they still lost after the Usos pinned Sheamus of The Bar.
