Bret Hart has a history with Sami Zayn that stems back to the latter's main roster debut in May 2015. The Excellence of Execution unveiled Zayn as John Cena's challenger in a United States Championship Open Challenge.

The crowd in Montreal erupted as their hometown hero made his first appearance on WWE RAW. He lost to The Cenation Leader then, but this kickstarted his main roster career, although he was put on the shelf after suffering a shoulder injury before the match.

Zayn has become one of the promotion's most popular stars since that debut. He's a four-time Intercontinental Champion, former world tag team champion and arguably one of the best characters from The Bloodline story.
