The younger and faster Santana tried to get one up on Matt Hardy early on, catching him with a couple of cheap shots on AEW Dynamite. The action soon spilled to ringside and Hardy tossed Santana into the barricade. Hardy then rolled his opponent back into the ring. As he was about to get back in himself, Ortiz held his leg. This gave Santana the opening he needed as we headed to commercial.
We came back from commercial to see Hardy trying to hit a Side Effect. Santana blocked it and planted Hardy. Matt eventually made his comeback with a series of clotheslines for a 2-count. Hardy followed it up with a couple of Side Effects but Santana kicked out.
Ortiz tried to distract Hardy from ringside and it almost worked out for him. Santana caught Hardy off guard and hit him with a modified Death Valley Driver. Hardy rolled Santana up and pinned him.
