Most wrestling fans have been speculating for months that Marty Scurll was headed for AEW, once his contract with Ring of Honor (ROH) was up. His contract expired last month and Scurll will be at ROH's Final Battle on December 15. But apparently, this is no longer inevitable.
According to Cage Side Seats, Twitter’s Rovert is now reporting that this is not a done deal, as of yet. ROH has allegedly offered Scurll a massive deal and it seems that Tony Khan is not willing to offer "big money deals" right now.
A couple of weeks ago, it was also reported that Marty Scurll could be headed to NJPW or AEW. Dave Meltzer of WON said that Scurll was deciding between the two and that WWE was not on the cards for him. While he would be an instant star in WWE, especially for the NXT brand, Meltzer does say that this is the least likely to happen.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
When AEW was formed, Scurll was the only one who wasn't signed as he was still under contract to ROH. The rest of The Elite including Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega signed with AEW, as their contracts with NJPW were up.
It was well known that he still had several months left on his ROH contract, the group began planting seeds of the day he would come on Being The Elite. There was even a joke where Scurll was all alone and drunk at his new year's party and upset that no one came to his party. Apparently, Omega being there didn't help.
While it's still unknown what Scurll's decision will be, this is still a rumor at this point. Things should become clearer in the months ahead. Will he go to WWE, AEW or NJPW? Only time will tell.
