Since taking the job as RAW General Manager back on RAW 1000, there has been an angle with AJ Lee continuing her “emotionally unstable” character, and the results of her emotions affecting her job running WWE‘s A-show. There have been numerous scenes to add fuel to the angle’s fire, including her slapping former GM Vickie Guerrero and showing favoritism to certain superstars. While the angle will still continue, it will no longer feature Lee as the GM of the show…at least for now.
This past Monday night on RAW, Lee and Vince McMahon arrived in the building together, Lee featuring a solemn look on her face. A new wrinkle was added to the angle, as McMahon announced on RAW later in the night that Lee would be resigning from the position. After a meeting with the Board of Directors, it was determined that the rumors of her fraternizing with a member of the RAW roster were true, and that it was a conflict of interest.
In the mean time, Vickie Guerrero will once again take the helm of the show, in somewhat of an interim position. Instead of being classified as the General Manager, McMahon has named Guerrero “Managing Supervisor”. How this is different from being the GM of the show remains to be seen for the time being, so for now, it’s easier to just say she’s in charge of WWE’s top show.
While the question of who would replace Lee has been answered somewhat, there’s still the question of who it was Lee was fraternizing with that started all of this. Throughout the night, the rumor was that the person in question was none other than John Cena. Cena himself did not deny that he and Lee had dinner outside of work hours, but it was strictly related to business and nothing more. This did not stop several RAW and Smackdown! superstars from weighing in, most of them not believing Cena’s story, despite Lee backing it up. Cena has now made the claim that Vickie Guerrero went to the Board and made up a story, which would certainly coincide with the rest of the angle.
At the same time, it appears WWE may be going with a romance angle between Cena and Lee. In another segment during the broadcast, Cena told Lee he would make things right, hugged her, and later confronted both Guerrero and McMahon about the situation.
As of now, the angle looks like Lee will later be reinstated as GM, or someone entirely new will take over, while a potential Ziggler/Cena feud could be in the works, due to Ziggler being the “client” of Guerrero.
