Former WWE Champion AJ Styles has been absent from television since losing the "I Quit" Match to Cody Rhodes at the Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event earlier this year. There were rumors that The Phenomenal One would return on last week's episode of SmackDown. However, that did not happen.
While there is no confirmation regarding AJ's impending return to WWE TV, there is a chance the veteran could return with his former tag team partner. The partner in question is The Nigerian Giant, Omos.
For those unaware, Styles and Omos were an active tag team between 2020 and 2021. During their time together, they won the RAW Tag Team Championship. Even though they did not have a lot of success together, the duo had great chemistry.
By booking AJ Styles and Omos together, WWE will allow the latter to have a proper storyline on the main roster. Until now, Omos has also only made sporadic television appearances. For Styles as well, being with Omos is a great opportunity, as the veteran will get to potentially compete for the WWE Tag Team Championship after failing to win a singles title.
However, this is entirely speculative at this point.
AJ Styles recently made a heartbreaking revelation
In 2024, WWE fans have witnessed the Sports Entertainment juggernaut trying to establish working relationships with other promotions. While WWE and TNA have already established a great relationship, the Stamford-based promotion seemingly established a relationship with Pro Wrestling NOAH earlier this year.
WWE sent Styles to Japan to compete against Naomichi Marufuji at NOAH Destination 2024, which took place on July 13. The veteran emerged victorious in the singles match. Later, the promotion released a video in which WWE Superstars detailed their experience after competing at the event.
During the video, AJ Styles seemingly confirmed that he might have wrestled his last match in Japan.
“If you don’t know already, when I’m in Japan, ever since I was with the Bullet Club, I had a mask made for the big shows of the year, and now it’s tradition that I have a mask when I walk out (in Japan). This possibly could be the last one you see on AJ Styles, so let’s get it," he said.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if The Phenomenal One makes a return to WWE TV in the coming days.
