The TLC pay-per-view which took place last Sunday produced one of the finest matches of 2016 as WWE World Champion AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose took each other apart in a ‘Tables, Ladders & Chairs’ match.
Although the match took its toll on both competitors, Styles seemed to have pushed himself a little too far as he picked up a minor ankle injury. As a result, ‘The Phenomenal One’ was unable to put his championship on the line in his scheduled match against James Ellsworth on last week’s episode of SmackDown Live.
According to reports by The Wrestling Observer Radio, AJ Styles was also out of action during the WWE live events over the weekend. There is a high possibility, therefore, that the superstar may not be able to compete in a match on this Tuesday’s show as well.

However, irrespective of whether he wrestles or not, ‘The Champ That Runs The Camp’ will be making an appearance on the show just like last time around. A few days back, Styles posted a picture of his ankle undergoing rehab with a caption where he promised to be back 100% soon.
With rumours of a reignited feud between the WWE World Champion and his arch-rival John Cena doing the rounds, it is imperative for the WWE to wrap up the Ellsworth-Styles saga as quickly as possible. But the injury to AJ looks to have delayed what could have ended on the previous episode of SmackDown itself.
The former TNA superstar has been receiving a lot of appreciation from all quarters for his performance at the TLC pay-per-view despite having received a bit of assistance from James Ellsworth.
Iconic WWE commentator and Hall of Famer Jim Ross showered particular praise on AJ Styles and dubbed him as the second coming of ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels. With Styles being compared to legends of the WWE after being around for just about a year, we can surely look forward to bigger things from him in the future.
