The Women's Royal Rumble Match was full of surprises
The Women's Royal Rumble match was full of surprises

The WWE Men's Royal Rumble Match went first and they had twelve spots to fill, with only seventeen men being announced for the match beforehand. We were treated to an array of Superstars from the main roster, some main roster debuts from NXT and one or two incredible surprise returns.

With that in mind, the Women's Royal Rumble match had a tough act to follow. However, with almost all of the active main roster women already announced, we knew that we were in for some surprises and boy did we get some. Here's the list of all unannounced/surprise entrants for 2018's Women's Royal Rumble Match

#13 Lita

Lita was the Women's Royal Rumble's first big surprise
Lita was the Women's Royal Rumble's first big surprise

She was conspicuously absent from the Raw 25th Anniversary show despite several allusions to the time Lita and Trish Stratus historically main evented Monday Night Raw. But she wasn't conspicuously absent from the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match.

Lita entered at #5. She cleaned house, came face to face with Kairi Sane, for whom she provided commentary during the Mae Young Classic, hit a Lita-sault and then was eliminated after 5:51 minutes by Becky Lynch.

#12 Kairi Sane

I mentioned her coming face to face with Lita on the previous slide, but that's right! Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane made her main roster debut in the #6 position of the Women's Royal Rumble match

Sane had been out of competition since NXT TakeOver: WarGames to recover from some injuries, but perhaps she needed a little more time off as she was eliminated after 4:49 minutes by Dana Brooke of all people.

#11 Torrie Wilson

For those feeling aggrieved that Dana Brooke eliminated Kairi Sane, have no fear, the next big Rumble surprise Torrie Wilson is here. Wilson looked great on the Raw 25th Anniversary show and she looked great returning to the ring as the 9th entrant in the Women's Royal Rumble and eliminated Dana Brooke.

Wilson only managed to last 3:04 minutes in the match. However, with Absolution's Sonya Deville did not care about nostalgia and unceremoniously dumped Wilson from the match.

#10 Molly Holly

Molly Holly returns

Molly Holly was ahead of her time in the WWE and arguably deserved to be part of the Women's Royal Rumble match because of her fighting off negative stereotypes but none of that matters because she lied and said he hadn't been contacted.

This next paragraph is directed directly to Molly Holly. I don't care that you entered at #12. in the Rumble, or that you eliminated Sarah Logan, or that you lasted 4:04 minutes in the match. Wrestling journalism works on trust and you abused that trust.

#9 Michelle McCool

Michelle McCool was doing the Styles Clash before it got popular, and now she's the #14. entrant in the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match. She lasted 8:38 minutes and was eliminated by Natalya.

However, Michelle McCool has gone down in history for her appearance as she now holds the record for most eliminations in the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match, and overall eliminations in the match with five.

#8 Vickie Guerrero

Excuse Me!
Excuse Me!

Vickie Guerrero was one of the most equally pleasant and unpleasant surprises of the Women's Royal Rumble, being the first woman (other than Lita) not on the Raw 25th Anniversary show to appear in the match.

Vickie entered the match at #16 with a flurry of 'Excuse Mes' and lasted a whopping 57 seconds when Michelle McCool, Ruby Riot, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch teamed up to give her the honour of the fastest Women's Royal Rumble match elimination.

#7 Kelly Kelly

Kelly Kelly is next!
Kelly Kelly is next!

Kelly Kelly could very well still be an active member of the WWE women's roster. Having been one of the most recent to leave the company, she still remains as incredibly over as ever, entering at #19.

However, Kelly's Rumble run would be cut short at 5:02 minutes, falling prey to Nia Jax's seemingly unstoppable Rumble rampage. Kelly also is one of the few returning legends not to eliminate anyone.

#6 Jacqueline

At one point during this Royal Rumble match, the ring only contained African American women with Naomi, Nia Jax and the first ever African-American Women's Title holder in WWE, Jacqueline.

Jacqueline entered at #21. But just like Kelly Kelly, her time in the Royal Rumble was incredibly short-lived thanks to Nia Jax, who wasted no time in throwing her out of the match in 1:52 minutes.

#5 Ember Moon

Ember Moon gets unstuck by Asuka .. again!

The Men's Royal Rumble had the current NXT Title holder Andrade "Cien" Almas appear despite his gruelling MOTY candidate with Johnny Gargano the night before. So why couldn't the Women's Royal Rumble have the NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon enter at #23. with one-arm following her match with Shayna Baszler?

Despite only having one arm, Moon managed to hold her own in the Rumble until she came face to face with her NXT nemesis Asuka. Asuka continued her theme of having Moon's number by eliminating her at 6:14 minutes.

#4 Beth Phoenix

Not content with just providing commentary for the Mixed Match Challenge every Tuesday night after SmackDown Live on Facebook Watch, Hall of Famer and 'The Glamazon' Beth Phoenix entered the Women's Royal Rumble Match at #24.

Phoenix didn't last too long, however, as she had a touching reunion with real-life friend Natalya. They hugged in the middle of the ring, only for Natalya to remember it's a competition and throw her friend over the top rope after 2:22 minutes.

#3 Nikki Bella

'Fearless' Nikki is truly fearless as she returns to the ring

This is more of a story than people give it credit. Nikki Bella, John Cena's fiance, and multiple time women's champion was off injured after suffering a potentially career-ending neck injury that could have killed her.

But here she is, making a triumphant return by entering the Rumble at #27. She eliminated four competitors and lasted 16:30 minutes to finish second, almost becoming the first ever female Royal Rumble winner.

#2 Brie Bella

Yes! Yes! Yes!
Yes! Yes! Yes!

What are the Bella's made of? Nikki almost died of a neck injury but returned to wrestling at the Rumble and Brie Bella has just had a baby but here she is chucking women over the top rope, entering at #28.

Brie had some great moments, leading a 'YES' chant, teaming up with her sister, eliminating Nia Jax and then getting betrayed by her sister who eliminated her from the match after 11:58 minutes.

#1 Trish Stratus

While many thought that Ronda Rousey was going to be the #30 entrant, it was never going to be anyone else other than WWE's most successful women's champion of all-time, Trish Stratus.

Thankfully we got to see a few of her patented finishing moves, the Stratusfaction, as well as a showdown between longtime rivals Stratus and Mickie James. Unfortunately, Stratus only lasted 5:36 minutes and was eliminated by Sasha Banks.
