Antonio Cesaro: WWE's most improved superstar of the week

Antonio Cesaro has been out and about in the main roster for more than a year. And after a stint with the US Title, a yodeling gimmick and a short term jobber role came the seemingly unlikely pairing with Zeb Colter. Colter justified this alliance by arguing that Cesaro was a legal immigrant unlike the other superstars Colter stood against. And then slowly yet surely Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro became quite prominent in the tag team scene. And ‘We the People’ became one of the most vocal chants. And now, in the past two weeks Cesaro’s defeated Randy Orton, fought a MOTY caliber match with Cena and last but far from least got a, sort of, name change.

And there we have it- the revelation of Cesaro as future main event performer.

And so Elimination Chamber has one more wrestler other than Daniel Bryan, who the fans are definitely excited to see.

In two weeks Cesaro has come out of his stable looking like a legitimate challenger to the top tiers of the WWE. With the culmination of the feud between Shield and the Wyatts and Cesaro’s recent showing, the Creative team really deserves a pat on the back for such a build to its future stars.

On the record, Cesaro’s match with Cena produced an eventual winner but it was actually, if not on paper, a win-win situation for both superstars. Cena has been having more great matches frequently in the past 2 years than he’s had since he began his career in 2002. As far as Cesaro goes, he was the actual star of the match.

He made the match top notch with his innovative moves and kudos to Cena for going through them. Cena might have won the match but Cesaro ended up winning hearts. Only time will tell if Cesaro goes up the ladder, which he deserves to, or end up having an abandoned push like Ziggler or Sandow.

The other great thing to come out of his matches this week is the way Cole and JBL are putting him over in commentary. Commentators are one of the most important part as far as telling a story to the television audience goes. And Cole and JBL surely have done a great job at showing how dangerous and equally entertaining Cesaro can be.

It is easy to get excited with the kind of treatment Cesaro’s character has been getting recently and it’s still easier to not forget his former first name but only time will tell how seriously WWE takes his evident unique performances in the ring and build it in the future.

But for now, enjoy the wait till the Elimination Chamber and enjoy predicting how terrific Cesaro is going to be or should be.
