He started his career as a bodybuilder, when he was 17 and won the NPC Georgia Bodybuilding Championship. He made his pro-wrestling debut at WWA4 the next year under the name Austin Theory. On his pro-wrestling debut, he faced AR Fox and became the WWA4 Heavyweight Champion. He wrestled for various independent circuits for the first three years WWA4, World Wrestling Network, Full Impact Pro, Evolve, Xtreme Wrestling Alliance and so on.

He made his main roster in-ring debut in March 2020 on an episode of Raw by teaming up with Angel Garza & Seth Rollins. Theory then continued his alliance with Zelina, Garza and Andrade “Cien” Almas, but was kicked out of the stable after accidentally costing the match for their team. When Theory was worrying, Seth Rollins approached him and inducted him as one of his Disciple. However, Theory slowly faded from television & was sent back to the developmental brand NXT. He had a brief run in NXT by joining the heel stable “The Way” with Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell.

In 2021 Theory was moved to Raw as a part of 2021 Draft and attacked Jeff Hardy. Theory then favored Vince McMahon by finding Cleopatra's Egg and got rewarded with various favors. McMahon claimed that Theory is the future of the company. Theory was given a shot on the WWE Championship, entered the Royal Rumble, entered the Elimination Chamber but failed. However he won the Money in the Bank Ladder contract and became the youngest Mr. Money in the Bank. Theory also won the United States Championship and became the youngest United States Champion of WWE.

After losing the United States Championship, and struggling to cash-in the MITB contract on the World Championship, Theory cashed-in on the United States Championship to become the United States Champion for the second time. He was struck in a triangular feud with Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley for a long time risking his championship and finally was drafted to SmackDown as a part of 2023 Draft with the championship. He held the championship for 258 days and lost it to Rey Mysterio in an Impromptu match.
