Since winning the NXT Women's Championship at NXT Stand & Deliver 2024, Roxanne Perez has been undefeated. As champion, she has beaten the likes of Lyra Valkyria, Natalya, Chelsea Green, and more. With how things are going, it feels as though no one can dethrone Perez as champion. However, general manager Ava could bring back a former champion after 461 days to challenge her.
The former champion in question, is one-time NXT UK Women's Champion, Meiko Satomura. The last time Satomura was seen in the squared circle was when she took on Roxanne Perez at NXT Roadblock 2023. It was an incredible match that ended with Perez coming out on top. However, she did take quite a beating and even collapsed after the match.
It would be quite the spectacle to have Satomura return after 461 days to challenge her last opponent, potentially even at NXT Battleground 2024. With Ava set to announce Roxanne Perez's next challenger, there is certainly a possibility that it could be the 44-year-old superstar.
Having Satomura take on Perez would also come as quite a surprise. Originally, reports were suggesting that The Prodigy could take on NXT's newest acquisition, Giulia. However, it seems as though those plans have been thrown out the window, as she recently injured her wrist at a Marigold show. So, why not have the NXT Women's Champion take on another Japanese superstar?
Ava has been talking to both Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis about Roxanne Perez's next opponent
As mentioned earlier, Roxanne Perez is looking nigh unstoppable. She has been dominant ever since becoming a two-time NXT Women's Champion. And, despite the plethora of talent available on the roster, it feels as though it will take something or someone special to take the title away from her. With that in mind, Ava has been speaking to both Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis about Perez's next opponent.
Ava is set to announce Perez's next challenger tonight on NXT. Taking into account that she has spoken to both Pearce and Aldis, one cannot help but feel that it might be someone from the main roster. Perhaps it could be Alexa Bliss, who hasn't been seen in 480 days, or maybe even AJ Lee, a legend, that Perez has claimed she would love to fight.
Regardless of who it is, there is no denying that Perez will step up to the challenge. Say what you will, but Perez is a fighting champion. And, at NXT Battleground 2024, she will fight tooth and nail to retain her title.
